SPRAY GUN TERMINOLOGY BLEEDER TYPE GUNS F or compressors without air tanks or any continuous-run air compressor. Air flows through the gun continually; the trigger controls only the paint flow. NON-BLEEDER TYPE GUNS For compressors with air tanks. The trigger controls air and paint flow. PRESSURE FEED A ir forces paint from an air-tight gun cup (or paint tank) and atomizes it at the air cap. Used for heavy-bodied and slow-drying material. SIPHON FEED S uction draws the paint to the fluid tip from a gun cup. Must be used with an external mix air cap. Used for lighter, faster-drying materials such as lacquer and synthetic enamel.
